Today in the United States for every two people leaving the workforce, only one is entering. Where will the new workers come from to fill the jobs in our regional businesses, especially in technology?
Cape Fear Future will help the region keep stride with globalization and remain competitive with other cities vying for workers in high-growth industries such as bio-technology. Over the past few years, the world has witnessed the impact that the knowledge sector has had on recent economic growth through the development of new businesses, business models, and technological innovation. This phenomenon was first detailed in the eye-opening book “The Rise of the Creative Class” by Dr. Richard Florida, and has spurred cities across the country to develop plans to retain and attract these vital workers.
Cape Fear Future was initiated by the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and is being facilitated by the Dr. Richard Florida Creativity Action Team, Catalytix Inc.
