                      • 2021 - Intentional Collisions hosted in partnership with the New Hanover County Office of Diversity & Equity

JOIN US for the first Intentional Collisions event of 2021 on Thursday, June 10 from 5:00 ? 7:00 pm at Airlie Gardens located at 300 Airlie Road, Wilmington, NC 28403.

Intentional Collisions is the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce?s after-hours networking event that invites members of our African American Business Council, Latin American Business Council, and broader business community to COLLIDE in a structured networking event with a goal of bringing people together who might not interact in everyday life.

Our partner for this event is New Hanover County?s Office of Diversity and Equity. Chief Diversity and Equity Officer, Linda Thompson, will be sharing more information about New Hanover County?s diversity initiatives including their Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) programs. Helping a larger, more diverse field of businesses compete for government contracts is an important way that New Hanover County and the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce can help small businesses scale and create new jobs in our community.

New Hanover County?s Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Policy went into effect November 1, 2019 and is designed to encourage staff who are involved in purchasing decisions to make a good faith effort to utilize MWBE vendors. As New Hanover County works to increase the diversity and number of higher wage jobs, these policy and procedure enhancements will be important to support business growth in New Hanover County.

There are more than 200 minority and women owned businesses in the county's vendor registry. During this fiscal year the county has already spent more than $11.7 million dollars with minority and women owned businesses. That?s 13.59% of our overall vendor spending for the year and surpasses our goal of spending 10% of the county's purchasing dollars with MWBEs.

This event is free to attend and open to the public.

If you are a vendor that is eligible to be on the county?s MWBE list, please enroll in our Vendor Self Service system located here on our website.
