Latest census estimates show that, as of July 1, 2012, Wilmington added 3,446 new residents – a 3.2 percent increase over the 106,476 people recorded in April 2010.
The Passion Works Capital Campaign held the official public kick-off event for their fundraising efforts this morning at the Wilmington Convention Center. Cape Fear Future (CFF) is the flagship initiative of the Wilmington Chamber that aims to raise $1 Million over the course of a five-year strategic action plan. The purpose of this effort is to increase the number of higher wage jobs (knowledge sector economy) in order to foster economic growth and ensure the prosperity of the region. The initiative will leverage existing assets to build a community where knowledge sector workers would choose to live, work and play.
