SUMMARY:Public Policy Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday\, August 24\, from 8:00 to 9:15 am at the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce office. We will also be offering a virtual option for members of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce to participate.\n\n\n\nThe Public Policy Committee monitors and advises the Chamber on legislative and regulatory issues at the local\, state\, and federal levels\, and promotes the interests of our membership. All Chamber members are welcome to attend this meeting. There is no cost to attend. \n\n\n\nThis month\, our guest speaker is Jennifer Rigby\, Chief Strategy Officer for New Hanover County. Jennifer will be sharing an update on Project Grace and next steps following the release of LS3P's Discovery Phase Summary. Following her presentation\, she will take questions from chamber members in attendance. \n\n \n\nJennifer Rigby was promoted to Chief Strategy Officer in June 2020 after serving New Hanover County as the Policy and Strategy Coordinator for nearly four years. Jennifer has helped lead the development of policies that advance the county's strategic plan and its priorities of public health\, safety\, education and workforce development. She began working for New Hanover County in 2013 as senior planner and project manager for the county's first Comprehensive Plan. Her background is in long range\, strategic planning and public service in Wilmington\, NC and Greenville\, SC.\n\n \n\nRigby received a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies from the College of Charleston and holds an American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) certification from the American Planning Association. She is a graduate of the UNCW/NHC SERVE Professional Development Academy\, the UNC School of Government LGFCU Fellows Program\, and Leadership Wilmington.\n\n \n\nThe Wilmington Chamber of Commerce office is located at 1 Estell Lee Place Wilmington\, NC 28401. Our guests are welcome to park in our parking lot or at the Wilmington Convention Center parking deck. If you choose to park in the deck\, please let a chamber staffer know to provide you with a complimentary parking voucher. Our main entrance faces the Cape Fear River and is accessed by passing through the gate to our building's left.\n\n\n\nThe Wilmington Chamber of Commerce will temporarily be requiring face masks in indoor settings\, including at our networking events\, committee meetings\, signature events\, and Leadership Wilmington program events. Masks will be mandatory for everyone\, despite your vaccination status\, and worn at all times while indoors unless you are eating or drinking. Face masks were an effective part of our COVID-19 mitigation strategy last year\, and we are putting this safety precaution in place as part of our efforts to protect you\, your families\, and our chamber staff members.
