SUMMARY:Public Policy Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Public Policy Committee monitors and advises the Chamber on legislative and regulatory issues at the local\, state\, and federal levels and promotes the interests of our membership. All Chamber members are welcome to attend this meeting. There is no cost to attend. \n\n \n\nThe next Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday\, September 28\, from 8:00 to 9:15 am at the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce office. We will also be offering a virtual option for members of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce to participate.\n\n \n\nThis month\, our guest speakers will be Donna Girardot\, Chair of the New Hanover County Airport Authority Board\; Oliver Lamb\, Principal at Ailevon Pacific Aviation Consulting\; and Granseur Dick\, Facilities Director at Wilmington International Airport. \n\n \n\nThe New Hanover County Commissioners first appointed Girardot to the Airport Authority Board in September 2014. She was elected Secretary by the Authority Board July 2017-June 2018. Girardot was then re-appointed by the County Commissioners for a second term\, June 2018-June\, 2022. The Airport Authority once again elected Girardot as an Officer\, this time as Chair. She is the first female Chair of the Airport Authority since it was established in 1989.\n\n \n\nGirardot assumed the role during a time when the Wilmington International Airport began to exhibit tremendous growth. The number of nonstop flights has grown with additional and expanded service provided by United and American Airlines. The number of travelers utilizing ILM continues to show year-over-year growth\, with ILM on track for yet another record year. To accommodate this- and future- growth\, ILM has been embarking upon a terminal expansion. \n\n \n\n The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce office is located at 1 Estell Lee Place Wilmington\, NC 28401. Our guests are welcome to park in our parking lot or at the Wilmington Convention Center parking deck. If you choose to park in the deck\, please let a chamber staffer know to provide you with a complimentary parking voucher. Our main entrance faces the Cape Fear River and is accessed by passing through the gate to our building's left.
