DESCRIPTION:*** The Supply Chain & Logistics Council meeting is rescheduled for Wednesday\, August 14\, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm due to Tropical Storm Debby ***\n\n\n\n\n\nSupply Chain & Logistics Council Meeting\n\n \n\nDate: Wednesday\, August 7\n\nTime: 4:00   6:00 pm\n\nLocation: Wilmington Chamber of Commerce\n\n \n\nAbout the Council:\n\nThe Wilmington Chamber of Commerce is launching the Supply Chain & Logistics Council to address critical challenges facing our supply chains. This initiative aims to bring together local industry leaders to collaboratively enhance supply chain resilience\, drive economic growth\, and sustain the prosperity of Wilmington's business community.\n\n \n\nAgenda:\n\n4:00 - 5:00 pm: Business Discussions\n\n5:00 - 6:00 pm: Optional Networking Session\n\n \n\nGuest Speaker:\n\n Michelle Howes\, PE grew up on the east side of Cleveland\, Ohio and graduated from the University of Akron in Ohio in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Michelle began her career in Salt Lake City\, Utah where she worked for Goldman Sachs in Operations reviewing financial trading data. She soon realized she missed the roots of civil engineering and joined the rotational engineering program at the Utah Department of Transportation. After a few years\, Michelle and her husband took a sabbatical to pursue their dream of traveling and living aboard a sailboat for about 6 months\, traveling down the East coast from New Bern\, NC to the Bahamas and back.\n\n\n\nUpon return\, she put down roots in Raleigh\, NC where she joined NCDOT Transportation Planning Division and began working with MPOs/RPOs across the central and eastern region of the state. She then took a role in Feasibility Studies helping to coordinate express designs\, until most recently joining Division 3 as the Division Corridor Development Engineer in 2023. She is grateful for the opportunity to move back to the coast and looks forward to moving projects along through prioritization process and coordinating efforts with the local community and planning organizations.\n\n \n\nWho Should Attend:\n\nThis meeting is open to stakeholders including port personnel\, freight forwarders\, customs brokers\, shippers\, third-party logistics providers (3PLs)\, carriers\, chassis providers\, and logistics team members from local manufacturers. Chamber members and non-members within these industries are welcome.
