Before joining the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce in January 2020, Haven Barnes spent five years as a bookkeeper under a local accounting firm, managing financial reporting and tax processes for a variety of companies in the Wilmington area. Since arriving at the Chamber, Barnes has devoted her attention to developing superior systems and methods. In 2021, she was instrumental in developing the procedures for the Hospitality, Retail & Service grant administered by the Chamber. The grant awarded a combined total of $4.2 million to 192 businesses within New Hanover County that had lost revenue due to COVID-19.
In May 2022, Barnes graduated from the Wilmington Chamber Foundation Leadership Wilmington program and was also promoted from Executive Operations Manager to the Director of Operations. Her goal is to improve organizational processes to produce consistent results and accurate, high-quality outcomes to ensure the Chamber continues to perform at the level the community deserves. As a Wilmington native, she has a passion for helping her hometown thrive.
Outside of the office, she enjoys baking, crafts, traveling, and spending time with her husband and three cats.
