• Leadership Wilmington Class of 2021 session on Education

Leadership Wilmington 2020 enjoyed an outdoor, socially distanced, and masked setting for their education session. With the Governor’s updated order of 10 people in an indoor setting, it was decided to move it outside at the Chamber. It was a little chilly, but the class continues to be committed to meeting in person.

A special thank you to LW Alumni ‘10, Kim Nelson, for coordinating and facilitating the presentations.

Kim planned a wonderful session, “Cradle to Career,” that covered the gambit of educational opportunities in the Cape Fear area. Presentations were covered from pre-school through higher education by Dr. Charles Foust, Superintendent, New Hanover County Schools, Laura Hunter, Principal at GLOW Academy, Jane Morrow (LW’17), Executive Director, Smart Start, Meghan Lewis, CF Collective with District C in the schools, Chancellor Sartarelli, UNCW, Mr. Jim Morton, President, Cape Fear Community College. The LW had the chance to hear of current issues facing education and ask these experts questions. At the end of the day, the class convened to discuss how they may become involved or become an advocate for our education systems.
