• Leadership Wilmington Class of 2024 takes on Fort Caswell for the kick off retreat!

The troops arrived at Fort Caswell on August 16th, 2023 at 9:30am.  The heat was intense, but it was no match for the Wilmingtonians. Energy was high and the unit immediately stormed the Annex. Day 1 began with everyone learning about their own communication styles through Forte Institute. As Hoop Morgan and Dr. Olsen retreated, the troops had time to quickly refuel before conquering their leadership philosophy under the watchful eye of Ron Hewett and Academy Leadership. When the day had been won, the troops then chased the Sun westward to Southport for Provisions and much needed “libations.”  Spirits were at all-time highs after the successful first day on the island.  General Primavera led the troops back to camp for the evening where the soldiers stayed up late to prepare for the next day's mission. As the sun rose over the sea, a knight in shining armor appeared at the Fort. Jody Fletcher arrived with fuel from Port City Java to power the troops through a long day of e5 Professional Coaching. As the sun set on day 2, the troops were confident in their position but had no idea what was in store for them on the last day.   Day 3 began with the group's greatest challenge yet; Work on Wilmington. Reinforcements from the class of 2023 descended on Fort Caswell to share war stories and strategies from their own experiences.  The group took a step back to conquer team-building initiatives before realizing it was time to go home and rest our weapons for the long journey ahead. Looking back on the fond times in Fort Caswell, the group was excited, invigorated, and thankful. Just after high noon on Friday, August 18th, The 2024 Leadership Wilmington class was on its way. As the class departed, they had but one message for the rest of Wilmington: We look forward to seeing you and your generous donations hard at work on April 20th, for Work on Wilmington 2024.
