The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce was proud to participate in the inaugural D.C. fly-in event hosted by Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy last week. This timely visit allowed us to meet directly with nearly a members of Congress and their legislative staff during a pivotal moment, as the U.S. House of Representatives debated and advanced proposed changes to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for Senate consideration.
Our region has long been at the forefront of clean energy development—particularly in nuclear and offshore wind. Our participation in this event reaffirmed our commitment to advancing America’s energy future.
Through our partnership with Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy—representing over 1,300 chambers nationwide—we engaged with nearly a dozen members of Congress to highlight key policy priorities. Chief among them was support for Section 45X, which provides critical tax credits to advanced manufacturing firms. These credits support U.S.-based production of components for solar panels, EV batteries, and utility-scale energy infrastructure. The dual aim of these provisions is to strengthen domestic manufacturing and expand the nation’s capacity to produce clean energy independent of volatile global commodities like oil and natural gas.
Though brief, our two-day trip to Capitol Hill was impactful and timely, underscoring the importance of strong advocacy during a transformative period in Congress.
