MeMa’s Chick’n’ & Ribs Opens First Brick and Mortar Wilmington Location

MeMa's Chick'n' & Ribs It's ALL Smokin! is the upscale BBQ, family friendly restaurant that gives a fantastic dining experience from the moment you enter the doors. You are made to feel welcome and served the best homemade food that leave you feeling like you just ate at grandma's table.
 
MeMa’s wasn’t just born from a love of cooking, but from a deep sense of community and service. James and Myra McDuffie saw a need, felt a calling, and turned a long-standing tradition into something that could nourish people every day, not just on holidays. Our journey is truly one of perseverance and heart. 
 
From serving the community through holiday meals and natural disasters, to opening MeMa’s in The Pender Landing Shopping Center in Burgaw on February 14, 2017, we’ve built something deeply rooted in tradition and care. Surviving the challenges of COVID and multiple landlords we decided to not renew our lease and served our last meal there on May 28, 2023. We found our forever home and purchased 8232 Market Street in Wilmington on May 28, 2024. Through the years, receiving awards and recognition for our southern cuisine and hospitality only confirms the warmth and quality that makes you feel like you just ate at grandma’s table. The restaurant is named after James’s mom, Mary—you know grandma’s recipes are at the heart of MeMa’s. While stepping into a fresh chapter, this kind of strength and commitment is what makes MeMa’s more than just a restaurant, it’s a home for the community.
