• Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Names Board Leadership and Announces Three New Board of Directors for 2021

    Wilmington, NC – The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce announces a new Board Chair, a new Treasurer, and three new members of the Board of Directors who will help support the Chamber's work and strategic plan in 2021. 
    The Wilmington Chamber Board of Directors elected Michele Holbrook of Corning Incorporated as its new Board Chair. Holbrook joined the Wilmington Chamber Board in 2015. "I'm honored to serve as Chair of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors," said Holbrook. She went on to say, "The next year will have its challenges, but we are also poised for great opportunities. Workforce development, infrastructure, our region's general business climate, and entrepreneurship will continue to be our focus with a new county commission and other statewide elected officials." Tee Nunnelee, Chairman of Coastal Beverage Company, will now serve as the Board's Immediate Past Chair.

    "Michele's leadership will continue to contribute to the successes of the Wilmington Chamber. Michele’s experience in the management of a major manufacturing facility will lend sound development of efficient and effective ways to live into the vision to promote prosperity by encouraging business growth," said Natalie English, President & CEO of the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. "Our new board members bring distinct business experiences that will round out our leadership and help us achieve our goal of growing New Hanover County's economy and making the area more prosperous for everyone."
    Lisa Leath, SHRM-SCP, President of Leath HR Group and co-founder of WorkTok, joins the Executive Committee as Treasurer of the Board in 2021. Lisa has been recognized with several awards in recent years, including two Coastal Entrepreneur Awards, a 40 Under 40 Award, and has been named a Wilmington Biz100 Innovator. Before starting her own businesses, Lisa was Vice President of Human Resources for Alcami and, before that, held several HR leadership positions across North Carolina working for Corning Incorporated.
    In the community, Lisa serves on numerous boards, including Communities in Schools of Cape Fear and the Cape Fear Museum. She previously served as the board chair for United Way of the Cape Fear Area. Her volunteerism as a board member for the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce includes chairing the Personnel Committee and participating on the Economic Scorecard Committee. 
    The new Board Directors will begin their one-year terms with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce effective January 1, 2021. The new Board members are:

    • Robert Arnold, HR/Safety Manager for National Gypsum's Wilmington Plant
    • Katie Smith, VP of Finance and Operations for nCino
    • Andrea Troccia, Market Development Manager for Corning Credit Union
    The Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors provides the guidance necessary for the chamber to promote a vibrant business climate throughout the region and to develop proactive solutions that help solve the challenges facing businesses in the Cape Fear region.
