Public Policy Meeting
The Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce invites members in good standing to attend its next Public Policy Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 23, from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. at the Chamber office or virtually via Zoom.
This month’s program will feature Becky Hawke, City Manager for the City of Wilmington. Hawke will provide Chamber members with an update on the City’s Organizational Alignment initiative, key priorities within the FY27 budget, and issues expected to shape Wilmington’s future.
Appointed unanimously by Wilmington City Council in 2026 following a national search, Hawke brings more than 18 years of local government leadership experience. Prior to joining Wilmington, she served as Town Manager for Matthews, North Carolina, where she led major community and economic development initiatives, strengthened public-private partnerships, and helped the town achieve its first AAA credit ratings from both Moody’s and S&P. She previously held executive leadership roles in the Town of Christiansburg and the City of Radford, Virginia.
A Credentialed Manager through the International City/County Management Association (ICMA-CM), Hawke holds degrees from Hollins University, Radford University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill’s Public Executive Leadership Academy and has remained active in community service throughout her career, including leadership roles with chambers of commerce, nonprofit organizations, and animal rescue groups.
The Public Policy Committee serves as a forum for Chamber members to stay informed on legislative, regulatory, and community issues impacting southeastern North Carolina’s business climate and economic competitiveness.
This meeting is open exclusively to current Chamber members and will be offered both in person and virtually. Advance online registration is required.Date and Time
